Spearheaded the efforts to promote a culture of safety as the college’s first Director of Safety. Built a comprehensive and robust safety program to enhance guidance and polices from UF EHS ensuring engineering labs were among the safest operating labs at UF.  Conducted risks assessments to ensure compliance and appropriate management of hazards for over 300 diverse research laboratories across nine departments.  Served as a respected member of the engineering research operations team, working with IT and Facilities Services offices to implement process improvements that streamlined support services such as: new faculty onboarding, laboratory renovations and business continuity.

Directed and provided strategic vision for the newly established EHS department and its staff. Designed and developed tools, policies, procedures and training to identify compliance gaps and facilitate closure and maintenance. Led regularly scheduled hazard assessments and evaluations while advising management on the implementation of risk reduction strategies.

Championed the implementation of employee programs and activities designed to maintain adherence to the Monsanto corporate safety culture. Instrumental in contributing several major revisions to national corporate EHS policies. Ensured compliance with all environmental regulations pertaining to air, water and waste. Prepared site for and was key contributor in the first Vegetable Division Corporate Audit.
